1. Product Overview
Congratulations on purchasing your IPEVO Skype USB FR-33.1 handset. Your IPEVO FR-33.1 handset
enables you to make free phone calls to other Skype users, as well as affordable phone calls to
landlines. The IPEVO FR-33.1 handset delivers wideband signal for optimal voice quality. It also delivers
advanced noise cancellation for crystal clear conversation.

1. Volume Control Pad
Press the upper soft-key to increase the volume; press the lower soft-key to reduce the volume.
2. Answer/Call Key
When receiving an incoming call, press down this button to accept calls; or after selecting the caller
from your Skype list, press down this button to call the selected contact.
3. Contact Scroll-thru Button
Toggle the button up or down to scroll through your Skype contact list.
4. Skype Activation Key
Press and hold this button to launch your Skype program.
5. Number Pad
Used to make SkypeOut call and Speed Dial. (See “4.1 Speed Dial Function” of this manual)
6. Customizable Hot Keys
By default, the customizable hot keys are set as “Redial”, “Ringer style setting”, and “Hold.” You
can also personalize your hot keys by using IPEVO FR-33.1 Control Center. (See “5. Using the IPEVO
Control Center” of this manual)
7. Mute Button
Press this button once during a call to mute your IPEVO FR-33.1 handset. Press the Mute button
again to continue your conversation.
8. End Call/Cancel Key
Press this button to hang up or cancel the selection in the Skype menu.
9. “+” Key
Press the “+” key to make a SkypeOut call* (calling traditional landlines and cellphones from your
IPEVO FR-33.1 handset through Skype).
*Requires Skype phone credits
10. List Key
Displays your contact list on the Skype interface (Skype must be running).

2. Getting Set Up
2.1 Inserting the Installation CD
Insert the provided CD into the CD-ROM. The IPEVO FR-33.1 handset installation program will launch
automatically.
(If the installation does not start automatically, start the program manually by launching the
“IPEVO.exe” file on your CD-ROM drive.)
2.2 Installing Skype
Note: Please skip this step if you already have Skype installed on your computer.
Install Skype by clicking on the “Link to Skype software” icon on the installation screen or go to
www.skype.com to download the latest version of Skype.
2.3 Installing the FR-33.1 Driver and Control Center
After installing Skype (see Step 2.2), install the Driver and Control Center for the IPEVO FR-33.1 handset
by clicking on the “Install FR-33.1 Driver” icon on the installation screen.

2.4 Connecting the IPEVO FR-33.1 handset to your computer
After installing the FR-33.1 Driver and Control Center, connect the IPEVO FR-33.1 handset into your
computer’s available USB port.
Note: Your computer may display a warning when you first plug in your IPEVO FR-33.1 handset.
Please select “Always allow this device to use Skype on this computer.” as seen in the screens below.
After clicking on “OK”, the IPEVO FR-33.1 handset is ready to use.

2. Getting Set Up
2.5 Customizing your FR-33.1 Control Center Settings
The FR-33.1 Control Center enables you to customize your handset settings. The FR-33.1 Control Center
includes options such as set up, volume control, hot key personalization, ring tone selection, and much
more. To open the FR-33.1 Control Center, double-click on the FR-33.1 icon in the Windows system tray.
For more information on your Control Center, see section “5. Using your IPEVO Control Center” of this
manual.

3. Using your IPEVO FR-33.1 handset
3.1 Introduction
With the IPEVO FR-33.1 handset, you can place Skype-to-Skype calls as well as calls from Skype to
landlines and cell phones. Skype-to-Skype calls require both users to have the free Skype software
running on their computer. Skype-to-Skype calls can be voice calls or videochatting.

3.2 Making Skype-to-Skype calls
Step 1.
Press the Activation key (see section “1.1 IPEVO FR-33.1 Handset Overview” of this manual) to launch
Skype
Step 2.
Press the Contact Scroll-Thru Button to select the
person you want to call in your contact list.
Step 3.
Press the Answer/Call key.

The status of your call will appear on the screen as shown below

Start your conversation! The conversation time is displayed on your screen as shown below.
Skype-to-Skype calls are always free. SkypeOut calls, phone calls from your IPEVO FR-33.1 handset to a
landline or cellphone, will require you to purchase Skype credit.

3.3 Making SkypeOut Calls
SkypeOut calls are calls from Skype to landlines or cell phones. When making a SkypeOut call, make
sure to press the “+” key before dialing the number you are trying to reach.
For example, dial “+” followed by 1 408 324 0158 to reach the IPEVO customer service hotline in
San Jose, CA.
3.4 Answering an incoming call
When your phone is ringing, press the green Answer key on your IPEVO FR-33.1 handset to pick up the
call.
3.5 Adjusting the volume during a conversation
Adjust the volume by pressing the volume key on the side of your handset while on a call.
You may also adjust volume in the Settings tab of the IPEVO Control Center (See section “5. Using the
IPEVO Control Center” of this manual)
3.6 Ending your call
When you wish to end your call, simply press the End Call button as shown below.

4. Advanced Settings
4.1 Speed Dial Function
The IPEVO FR-33.1 handset allows you to customize speed dials keys. The speed dial allows you to
preset up to 99 phone numbers for speedy dialing of the most frequently called numbers. Once you
have set up the speed dial as described below, you can simply press any pre-assigned speed dial
number to call the corresponding contact.
Step 1.
Log on to Skype, and Open the Skype window. Open the “Contacts” tab. Right-click on the contact you
wish to edit.
Step 2.
Select the “Set Speed-dial” option from the drop-down menu as shown below.
Step 3.
Choose a speed dialing number between 1 and 99 to assign to the selected contact.

Done! The speed dialing number assigned to the selected contact will appear at the back of the
selected contact name in your contact list.
Step 5.
Pressing an assigned speed dial number calls the selected contact immediately.

4.2 Quick Search Function
The Quick Seach Function allows you to search through your list of contacts.
Step 1.
Press the “List” button on the IPEVO FR-33.1 handset to start a quick search on your contacts. Use the
Scroll-thru button to scroll through the list of names and select the person you wish to call.
Step 2.
Press “+” to search by SkypeOut number (landline number).
Step 3.
Once you have selected the contact, press the green Answer/Call key to start the call as shown below.

5. Using the IPEVO Control Center
The FR-33.1 Control Center enables you to customize your IPEVO FR-33.1 handset settings. The FR-33.1
Control Center includes options such as set up, volume control, hot key personalization, ring tone
selection, and much more. To open the FR-33.1 Control Center, double-click on the FR-33.1 icon in the
Windows system tray.

The “Audio Settings” tab allows you to adjust the speaker volume.

5.2 Customizing your IPEVO FR-33.1 handset Hot Key functions
The IPEVO FR-33.1 handset has 3 hot keys on the top of its pad see “2. IPEVO FR-33.1 Overview.” Under
the “Function Keys”, you may set the Hot Keys on your IPEVO FR-33.1 handset to Redial, Ringer Style,
Hold, Change Status or Start Chat. By default, the customizable hot keys are set as “Redial”, “Ringer
style setting”, and “Hold.”

Under “Other Setting”, you can select which ring style to apply to the button. Choose from 10
different ring tones or set the ring tone as silent.

6. Warranty information
6.1 Warranty Coverage Information
IPEVO products come with a one year parts and labor limited warranty from the date of purchase as
described below. Note that shipping and handling fees are not covered by this warranty.
This warranty is valid only for the first consumer purchaser. IPEVO warrants its products to be free from
defects in material and workmanship during the warranty period. If a product proves to be defective in
material or workmanship during the warranty period, IPEVO will, at its sole option, repair or replace
the product with a similar product. Replacement product or parts may include remanufactured or
refurbished parts or components. The replacement unit will be covered by the balance of the time
remaining on the customer’s original limited warranty. Ipevo provides no warranty for the third-party
software included with the product or installed by the customer.
6.2 What the warranty does not cover
IPEVO retains the right to refuse warranty repair or exchange for reasons such as but not limited to
those listed below:
Any product on which the serial number has been defaced, modified or removed.
Damage, deterioration or malfunction resulting from:
o Accident, misuse, neglect, fire, water, lightning, or other acts of nature
o Unauthorized product modification, or failure to follow instructions supplied with the product,
including use of the product with non authorized programs.
o Repair or attempted repair by anyone not authorized by IPEVO.
o Damage to or loss of any programs, data or removable storage media.
o Software or data loss occurring during repair or replacement.
o Any damage of the product due to shipment.
o Removal or installation of the product.
o Causes external to the product, such as electric power fluctuations or failure.
o Use of supplies or parts not meeting IPEVO’s specifications.
o Normal wear and tear.
o Any other cause which does not relate to a product defect (unclear voice quality due to network and
not hardware).

6. Warranty information
6.3 Limitation of implied warranties
THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WHICH EXTEND BEYOND THE DESCRIPTION CONTAINED
HEREIN INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
EXCLUSION OF DAMAGES
IPEVO’S LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE COST OF REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE PRODUCT. IPEVO SHALL NOT BE
LIABLE FOR:
DAMAGE TO OTHER PROPERTY CAUSED BY ANY DEFECTS IN THE PRODUCT, DAMAGES BASED UPON
INCONVENIENCE, LOSS OF USE OF THE PRODUCT, LOSS OF TIME, LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF BUSINESS
OPPORTUNITY, LOSS OF GOODWILL, INTERFERENCE WITH BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS, OR OTHER COMMERCIAL
LOSS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
ANY OTHER DAMAGES, WHETHER INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR OTHERWISE.
ANY CLAIM AGAINST THE CUSTOMER BY ANY OTHER PARTY.
EFFECT OF LOCAL LAW:
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from
locality to locality. Some localities do not allow limitations on implied warranties and/or do not allow
the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations and exclusions may not
apply to you.
6.4 Return and Exchange Policy
Within one year of the purchase day, IPEVO will repair the defective unit, or if the unit is not repairable,
issue a working replacement for free. You may also return the product within the terms of the above
described warranty. Note that shipping and handling fees are not covered by this offer.
In order to obtain warranty service:

Contact IPEVO Customer Support at 1 877 269 4738 or email us at cs@ipevo.com for a Return Material
Authorization number (RMA). You will be required to provide:
1. A copy of the dated sales slip or transaction ID# from our online store.
2. Your name.
3. Your ship to address, email address and phone number.
4. The serial number of the product.
5. A description of the problem.
Step 2.
Bring or ship the product prepaid in the original container, with the associated accessories, to IPEVO
at 2860 Zanker Rd Suite 100, Attn: Return and Exchange Department. San Jose, CA 95134. Insurance of
the returning product is recommended should you experience any transportation claim from the carrier
you select.
